Question:
I was scrolling through some gameplay clips earlier and came across this absolutely stunning scene. The lighting feels soft yet vivid, the water reflects the sky perfectly, and there are even little atmospheric details like drifting particles that make it feel almost alive.
I’ve tried BSL, Complementary, and AstraLex before, but none of them looked exactly like this. The clouds seem more layered, and the colors are more pastel than what I usually see.
Has anyone here used a shader that produces something like this? I’d love to try it in my world. – from Nami
Answer:
I’ve seen plenty of shaders over the years, but this one really caught my eye. The lighting feels almost dream-like, the clouds have that soft, fluffy texture, and the water reflections are incredibly smooth. There are even tiny atmospheric effects possibly auroras or drifting particles — that make the whole scene feel alive.
At first glance, I thought it might be AstraLex because of the bright, cinematic tones. But after looking closer at the clouds and water behavior, it could also be Derivative Shader, especially with some heavy customization. The thing with shaders is that many players tweak them so much combining settings from different packs, adjusting color multipliers, enabling chunk lighting that the final result can be hard to pinpoint.
If you want to try something similar, here are a few shaders that can achieve a close look:
- Derivative Shader – Great for vibrant clouds and reflective water.
- AstraLex (BSL Edit) – Known for cinematic lighting and saturated colors.
- Complementary Shaders – Well-balanced visuals with plenty of tweak options.
- Photon Shader – Realistic skies and crisp daylight scenes.
Pair any of these with enhancement packs like Bushy Leaves, Better Grass, or biome mods like Regions Unexplored, and you’ll get even closer to this style. Adding subtle effects like Falling Leaves or Aurora Borealis mods can push it over the top.
So… what do you think? Which shader (or combo) is this clip actually using? Share your guesses I’d love to compare notes with other shader enthusiasts.
I think I see Biomes O’ Plenty for the terrain, maybe coupled with TerraBlender. The weapons could be Spartan Weaponry that curved sword is pretty distinctive. Could also be a custom resource pack in play here.
Man, now I wanna try that setup in my world.
Good eye! That does look like Biomes O’ Plenty for the terrain, possibly with TerraBlender handling the world gen. The weapon models are very similar to Spartan Weaponry, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s also a custom resource pack enhancing the colors and textures.
