If you’re looking to customize mob behavior and difficulty beyond what’s possible in vanilla Minecraft, Configurable Mob Potion Effects Mod (1.21.8, 1.20.1) gives you total command over how mobs behave with potion effects. Designed with server admins and modpack creators in mind, this mod allows you to assign permanent potion effects to any mob or configure on-hit status effects when mobs attack players or other entities.

Whether you want to make your zombies poisonous, give skeletons Speed II, or turn endermites into mini-bosses with Levitation, this mod gives you the flexibility to do it all without writing a single line of code. The system is entirely text-based using auto-generated configuration files, making it easy to tweak balance or create custom challenges for PvE gameplay.

The mod works through two core config files:

  • permanenteffects.txt
Assigns potion effects that mobs will always have.
    Example:
    minecraft:slime speed 50
  • ondamageeffects.txt
Assigns potion effects that mobs apply to others when they deal damage.
