Created by white_elephant, the Anvil Falling Mod turns Minecraft into a chaotic survival challenge by making anvils drop from the sky directly above players. It works on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Quilt, supporting Minecraft 1.20.1 to 1.21.4.
How It Works
- Overworld – Anvils spawn at a height of Y = 100 above the player and smash through blocks like grass, dirt, and stone on impact.
- Nether – Anvils fall from Y = 130 (three blocks above the top bedrock layer), capable of breaking netherrack and even top-layer bedrock.
- The End – Anvils drop within a 20³ block area around the player, still spawning 100 blocks above.
Standing still is risky you might dodge once or twice, but linger in one spot and you’ll quickly be flattened.
Community Reactions
On Modrinth, players describe it as “pure chaos in the best way possible”, with many sharing hilarious stories of unexpected deaths mid-build. Some even experiment with creative ways to avoid the falling anvils, like ducking under overhangs or digging into the terrain.
