How To Install Texture Packs on Minecraft PE

Texture packs in .mcpack format are the most straightforward to install.

Steps:

  1. Download a texture pack in .mcpack format from MCPE Texture Packs.
  2. Open your File Manager and navigate to the Downloads folder.
  3. Tap the .mcpack file. It should automatically launch Minecraft PE and begin importing.
  4. Wait for the “Import Started” and “Successfully Imported” message.
  5. Go to Settings → Global Resources or Map Settings → Resource Packs to activate the texture.

Note: If tapping the file doesn’t work, manually open it using a File Manager app like File Manager from Google Play.

If you downloaded a texture pack in .zip or .rar format, you’ll need to extract and move it manually.

Steps:

  1. Download the .zip or .rar archive of your chosen texture pack.
  2. Open a File Manager app (recommended: File Manager from Google Play).
  3. Locate and extract the archive to a temporary folder.
  4. After extraction, you should get a folder containing textures and manifest.json.
  5. Copy the entire folder.
  6. Navigate to:
/games/com.mojang/resource_packs/

If the resource_packs folder doesn’t exist, create it manually.

  1. Paste the folder inside resource_packs.
  2. Launch Minecraft PE, go to Settings → Global Resources, and activate the pack.

How to Install Shaders?

In Minecraft PE, shaders are essentially texture packs that modify the game’s visuals, especially lighting and shadows. The installation is exactly the same as a .mcpack or .zip texture pack:

  • If it’s a .mcpack: Tap and import.
  • If it’s a .zip: Extract and paste it into /resource_packs/.

Once installed, enable the shader via Global Resources or in World Settings.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Make sure Minecraft PE is fully closed before starting.
  • Check that the texture pack folder contains a valid manifest.json.
  • If nothing shows up in-game, ensure you didn’t accidentally paste a folder inside another folder.
  • Restart Minecraft after activating any new resource pack.
